make it happen.

hiiiii, i'm utterly dreadful at remembering that i have several different sites and so, i often have long, unexplained periods of absence. sorry. anyway, i think i want to start using this blogspot as a place to talk a lot more about fashion related things because none of my friends really care about fashion at all and so, i don't have anyone here to really talk to about it. i have to say i'm rather petrified at how 'bright' everything seems to have become recently - i'm allergic to bright colours. i'm actually allergic to colour full stop - i bought a pair of camel coloured jeans from topshop the other day and that for me is adventurous. i think colour looks amazing on other people but not on me really...never mind, i'll happily stick with navy, navy's been a faithful friend all these years: ever since my primary school jumper and woolly tights and then my woolen secondary blazer and now my topshop sailor coat. i can't really wear navy in august though but, luckily, i'm also partial to white so it should all be fine. however, as a nod to the new season and to jil sander in particular, i've painted my nails in 'funtime fuscia' - to say i felt slightly faint when they were first done is an understatement..

"she wasn't bitter. she was sad, though. but it was a hopeful kind of sad. the kind of sad that just takes time."

apologies.

sorry i've been M.I.A and haven't been on here for ages again - i'm terrible at blogspot, aren't i? well, i was ill and in bed for a few days so i couldn't do more outfit posts and then i've been working and attending compulsory inductions and things. but i'm here now. aha. i've recently ordered quite a few things online so when they all arrive i'll probably do a 'haul' of everything all at once. a couple of the things are from the kate moss collection which, as usual, was incredibly pretty etc etc but ridiculously overpriced - i mean, £75 for topshop jeans?? it's not far off insanity really. (as linda said - to purchase something "i didn't realise i'd have to take out a mortgage..". that's not exactly what she said, but you get the picture..) i'm rather annoyed i didn't manage to get the velvet shorts though but AC for madewell features rather a few pairs so i'll hopefully be able to get some from there - and also when would i wear velvet shorts, really?? exactly. another thing that everyone's been talking/blogging about is the topshop make-up collection..i bought a blush in 'flush' and it's really rather nice actually. it's a sort of 'cream-to-powder' formulation which means it doesn't 'sit' on the skin as other creams can tend to. i got quite a few compliments when wearing it with the general consensus feeling that it looks quite 'natural' which i like seeing as i don't exactly want it to look like i'm wearing lots of blusher...something i ordered today is a tea dress from pearl lowe's peacocks collection. i'm a bit slow off the mark really and didn't realise it has been launched yet (the same reason why i missed the KM velvet shorts...i'm bitter, yes. ha) anyway, i saw on charley's blog that it had been and went to check it out. i ordered this tea dress:

which i thought might be rather nice with ribbed ankle socks and brogues :) anyway, sorry for this terribly rambly post. much love x

sorry, that it's slightly dull, sorry that my legs are about 15cm long, sorry that i have to stand on my bed to be able to take a photo - clearly, the future annie leibovitz i am not x

THEFT.

yes, i stole a 'pimm's stirer' from the pub, i'm just that classy..

"shopping cures depression"

this is going to be a 'what i bought today post' so, bear with me, there's rather a bit of random stuff. but firstly, the bikini i ordered from ASOS came yesterday:

(bikini: £38. but don't tell my mother - she thinks i got it in the sale. ahem)

it's by APC madras and it's navy and cream cotton, which makes it nicer than the lycra-y ones. alexa chung has the green version, i do believe. anyway, today i purchased: some navy heart shorts that were in the topshop sale, they were still £20 though which i thought was ratherr a lot but i really love them, they're not the kind of thing i'd normally go for really - but they're lovely.

(shorts: £20 reduced from £35)

i also bought some grey ribbed socks from topshop, to wear with my wilry platforms obviously, and a lipbalm from the new make-up collection. the sheffield topshop is reallyyy tiny so they didn't have everything which was annoying - i really want to try a blusher as i've heard really good things about them and maybe the felt tip eyeliner but they didn't have them so i just got a rose balm. it's nice. not as good as carmex but then nothing really is..

(socks: £3, lipbalm: £4)

then i went to TKMAXX which i actually hate, mainly because of the crazed atmosphere - remeniscent of a jumble sale really...but i saw a few nice things. i bought a couple of pilgrim bracelets which were hugely reduced to be presents :) they're nice. thenn i saw some pearls which i know might not be mega 'cool' or whatever butttt i like them - classic and classy aha. then i saw a little tube of 'elizabeth arden 8 hour cream' which i've been wanting to try for a while because it's apparantly 'amazing', but, we'll see :)

(8 hour cream: £8 reduced from £18, white freshwater pearl necklace: £6 down from £22, peach freshwater pearls: £12 don't from £27)

then a random buy was a copper bracelet which i bought because it looks a bit like rose gold which i'm currently obsessed with but is just horrifically expensive..you can also see my lulu guinness cocktail ring better in this photo lol

(copper bracelet: £3, cocktail ring (which looks ridiculously huge haha), £40)

finally, i went into h&m and bought a sun dress that i actually saw last year and was going to buy but they didn't have my size and, apparantly, they've re-made it this year, so yay! plus, it was pretty cheap really and then i also bought some fuschia flower clips, which were just a really random buy :)

(dress: £10, clips: £2)

well, that's it - thank god, right :) x
